The Club has one remaining trials scheduled for the year. The Boxing Day trial, has exciting news: the landowner has granted permission for the trial to return to Howden Wood in Silsden. The event are now open for entries via the ACU/Sport80 platform. Please note, due to limited parking for the Boxing Day trial, entries are capped at 50 and are open to all adult riders, as well as Youth A, B, and C participants. The venue is not suitable for beginners or electric bikes.
Looking ahead to 2025, the Club anticipates an increase in entries. The first trial of the new year will be held on New Year’s Day at Lady Lane, Bingley, with entries now open. Additionally, the Club will host its first major trial in February as part of the Yorkshire Centre Championship, with ongoing negotiations to return to Yarnbury. More details will be provided as the events approach.
Phil Howlett, Planit Opticians will once again sponsor the Beginners and Novice Wednesday evening trials during the summer months, encouraging participants to advance their skills.
Centre News – In a significant change, the West Yorkshire Championship will be revamped in 2025, with the Centre announcing the disbandment of the current format. The new structure will be called The Yorkshire Centre Clubman Championship and will feature two courses, A and B, utilising a “No Stop” marking method. Course A will be available to all adult Novice and Clubman classes, along with Youth participants, while Course B will include additional classes such as Pre 65, Twin Shock, and Air Cooled. Experts and Intermediates may also participate on a no points basis. If the venue allows Clubs may also include a conductored course.The final format details will be published on the Centre and Club websites by year-end.
In related news, the ACU has announced an increase in the trials registration fee (licence) to £23 and permit fees to £25, although there will be no increase in insurance premiums. Additionally, Club membership has risen to £5 and is now available through the ACU/Sport80 platform. If you have set up “auto renewal” payments will be taken towards the year end.
